The Cambridge University Young Enterprise Examination Award Ceremony 2009 was held on the 14th January at the Thrustan College, Colombo. Prof. Lakshaman Watawala graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Room to Read funds JA/YESL programmes, in their centres in Puttlam, Hatton and Matale who sponsors 202 students with an amount of Rs. 808,000.

At the completion of the programmes certificates were awarded to the students with an enthusiastic participation of parents, principals along with the Room to Read officials.

Awards ceremony for Hatton Centre was held at St. Gabriel’s Girls School and for the Puttlam Centre at the Thilladi Muslim Maha Vidyalaya.

Both events were graced by Patrick Amarasinghe, President, YESL as the Chief Guest and Glen De Mel, Country Director, Room to Read as the Guest of Honour which was a sheer encouragement for students.

The Galle Regional Launch and Awards Ceremony was held on 25th March 2009 at the C. W. W. Kannangara Auditorium of Richmond College, Galle. The Bank of Ceylon, Super Grade Branch, Galle sponsored this event.

Nimal Welengoda, Asst. General Manger, of the Southern Province, BOC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with an encouraging participation of a team from BOC.

The schools namely Richmond College, Southlands College, Mahinda College, Sangamiitta Girls College and Vidyaloka College participated at this event.

The students launched their new school companies for the year 2009/2010 and had an exhibition of their products.

The participation numbered over 600 including students, teachers, principals and members from the southern province business community.

The Gampaha Launch and the Regional Awards was held at Yasodara Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya on 12th of June 2009. 15 school companies were launched at this ceremony. Rohantha Athukorala, a renowned chartered marketer graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The students also held an exhibition of products. Students who completed the Elementary Level Programmes were awarded with certificates.

The HNB – Gampaha Branch and P. K. Kumarasiri Panduwawela together with YESL sponsored the event.

There was a commendable participation from the principals, teachers, students and business community members.
