In 1970 the first Canadian National Junior Achievement Conference was held at the University of British Colombia, Vancouver. Prior to the creation of CANJAC, the closest Achievers conference was held in the United States and was known as NAJAC (North American Junior Achievement Conference). As CANJAC celebrated its 35th anniversary this year CANJAC had its highest international delegation to date.
Over the years CANJAC has grown in to an exciting International forum. Achievers travel from all corners of the world to participate in an examination of the ever changing goals of business and society. Previous international participants include : Armenia, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Botswana, Cayman Islands, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Ireland, Ivory Coast, Nepal, Norway, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Swaziland, Sweden and the United States.
Each year volunteers from Canadian charters nationwide are selected as staff for CANJAC. Through the hard work and dedication of these volunteers, CANJAC has earned outstanding international reputation, which continues to draw more international participants each year. Junior Achievement of Canada is proud of what has been accomplished with CANJAC and they are pleased to see the contributions it has made to Junior Achievement at a global level.
YESL has sent delegates to CANJAC from the Company Programme of Sri Lankan schools since year 2007.
